Therapy is a safe space for you to explore what it means to be Asian American.

I can help with imposter syndrome, biculturalism, and perfectionism.

You may struggle with feeling that you have to be perfect or you will disappoint your parents. You have experienced culture clash between not being Asian enough for your relatives but also singled out at school or work for being the one of the only Asians. I can help you sort through these feelings, unlearn ways of thinking that don’t serve you, be more comfortable with your identity, and help you to fully be who you are meant to be.

Have therapy with a therapist with a similar cultural background

You’re having to spend several sessions teaching your non-Asian therapist about Asian cultural experiences and family dynamics so s(he) can understand how to help you.

You may have experienced non-Asian therapists who are well meaning but just don’t get it. They may have given feedback or made suggestions that don’t align to your lived experience.

I get it. It’s not that easy. I can help you explore the complexities of balancing traditional Asian cultural values with what you find personally meaningful, figure out how you want to navigate your relationship with your family, and teach you how to more effectively communicate and decrease conflicts.

You have noticed microaggressions or racism in social conversations, at school, at work, online, and in the media. You want a therapist who validates that this is real, and can help you unpack your complex feelings of confusion, anger, helplessness, and fears.

I can guide you in processing the trauma, teach you to notice how it shows up in physical symptoms in your body, and what to do about this. I can help you understand the history that led to systems that keep this cycle of oppression going and empower you to evaluate options you have for your situations. I am committed to building the strengths within you to heal from intergenerational trauma.

Your experiences are real. You deserve a safe space where you are seen, heard, and validated.
